History

High Hook Guide Service was established by myself  in 1987 after fishing the Salmon River and
 tributaries of Eastern Lake Ontario since the early 70's.  
Between my son's Billy, Brian and myself, we have over 30 years guiding experience in this area. Salmon, Steelhead, Rainbows and Browns are the "bread and butter" of our business, since the season for salmonoids is open year round; however we also guide for Walleye, Pike and bass when the season permits.
  We also offer spring turkey hunts. We also have 28 acres on Grindstone Creek, which is private access fishing for our clients.  

The Grindstone gets runs of Chinook and Coho Salmon as well as Rainbows & Steelhead and is renown for its Brown trout fishing in the fall.  Atlantic Salmon fingerlings have also been stocked experimentally in the past couple years, although the jury is still out as to the success of those stockings

Private Access Fishing !!

To enhance our clients' success and enjoyment of their trip to the Salmon River, High Hook Guide Service offers private access fishing. Of course, we fish the Salmon River and all the other creeks and streams on the Eastern shore of Lake Ontario, but we also own outright or have private access to almost one mile of prime water on two different streams in this area. If you have ever fished the Salmon River during salmon season or even the peak periods of steelhead season you understand what a distinct advantage this is. There's nothing like being on a beautiful piece of water and being downright lonely. We do this for two reasons. Number one is that we want our clients to be successful and come back year after year. (We don't do any shows- we never have. We don't need to.) The second reason is that we love to fish. Fishing is our passion- that's why we live here!
